Time for a bit of reflection

Appreciate any prayers this weekend.  Many times I lose myself and lose my way.  Heading for a religious retreat but first I need to get there. Working nights and then off to the retreat with rain and snow forecast. Pray for me and I will be praying for you.

"Each little step toward the center seemed like an impossible demand, a demand requiring me to let one more time from wanting to be in control, to give up one more time the desire to predict all life, to die one more time to the fear of not knowing where it all will lead, and to surrender one more time to a love that knows no limits. Thursday Homestead Update

We are thankful for the recent light rains.  The weather is to stay nice until Saturday with rain and snow coming. Then, Sunday the dry weather will begin again.
The hens have really been cranking out the eggs lately.  We do bring them in daily and wash them.

Our morning view of goat, horses, chickens, and lamb.

The greenhouse is doing well.  We did have a salad last night of micros - variety of lettuce and spinach.

Peas are starting up the supports. The onions look extremely happy next to them .

Working on a quilt.

The tractor has returned from the shop. It was serviced and ready to go for the spring and helping with the remodeling.

We immediately put it to use drilling caisson holes for the additions. Our ground is rock solid and was a bit difficult. It will do for now but these are 9inch drill bit holes and we need a 12 inch. It will be cheaper to buy one than rent it and we are rearranging funds to make way for a new one.  Money conversations are not pleasant and we need to get better at these discussions. We moved here to save money but it seems to always be flying out the window.

Mama hen was moved to a larger area. Later we will move her again and put turkey chicks here.

We checked on the Black Mama Hen and found she has 3 new chicks as well. We will let her sit for a few more day to see if more hatch.  The are a variety of chicks and adorable.

Meals for the day.

Breakfast - homemade french toast with berry sauce and  a fried egg (using cooking spray).  Coffee with cocoa powder, black pepper, turmeric, powdered milk and sweetener.
water
Snack - peanuts
water
Lunch - unwich... a large veggie sandwich with cheese wrapped in lettuce leaves.

Snack - apple and peanut butter
green tea
Dinner - asparagus from the garden, mix greens salad with apple and sweet peppers,  salmon patty and corn on the cob.
green tea

Later - water and chamomile tea

Checked in at the doctor and weighed in from last week. I have lost 5.5 lbs. Hmm.... see what happens when you skip the fast food.

"Lord, let me live until I die. By that I mean I want to live, love, and serve fully until death comes.  If that prayer is answered, if I am able to live until I die, how long really doesn't matter."
-Sr Thea Bowman, who died on this date in 1990

Monday Update

Spring-break on the homestead. Grandkids came for a visit and we got busy early.
Cookies were made.

Meat hens  came out for a visit and then quickly ran in.

The building supplies were delivered today for the front and back porches and rooms.

Crafts were made.

Then everyone pitched in to make the round pen for the horses.

Wilbur and Felonious hung around and watched.

That's about it before I had to head to work.
Reminders
We participate in the 52 Week Money Challenge. This is week 13. Pop $13 in your jar and you will be up to $91!  Keep it going.

Saturday Quilt Day and Sunday Funday

We started the weekend in Windsor for Colorado Quilt  Council.  We had a wonderful speaker, Amy McClellan from Under the Garden Moon Patterns.  She had a great trunk show and talk.  Here are some her quilts and patterns she sells.

It was a lot of fun with friends.  Later we stopped off at a couple of quilt shops.  I bought this pattern to try my hand at wool applique.

We ended up at the Black Sheep Wool Shop in Windsor with great instruction. (plus they told us the story of how the store ...way back when... was a mortuary...very cool story)

Lunch at a Hawaiian Restaurant in Windsor . Fabulous food and fabulous friends.

The teriyaki chicken and salad with miso dressing in awesome!

Sunday was a day of family board games, riding, and making pickled eggs.
Oh, so much fun.

We did drive by a few visitors. The Tom thought he would take on my car as a challenge. My granddaughter was behind us and took these pictures for me.

Then the riding began.

And making pickled eggs.

Love it that I have granddaughters who want to learn .

Now we wait.

Hope your weekend was great.

The Benefit of Prayer
Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.
