More remodelling pictures.

As I have said before we bought our place for the land not the house. It was horrible. We tore down walls, cleaned out mice and ripped out floors.

Here is the master bathroom before and after.  I have no idea what the people before us had in mind for this area but here it is...

We made the entry way an arch instead of the square entry. I would love to put in a barn door here some day, maybe even as a pocket door.

We aren't sure we like the paint yet but it was extremely cheap as the store was discontinuing it.

We still have a lot to do but we do it as we get money, save supplies or find deals.

5th day of Christmas- tacos and cleaning

Dinner was tacos but with twist.  We built ours from the bottom up with goat cheese we made yesterday, beans we canned this month, Dude added beef to his, lettuce and spinach picked yesterday from the green house, the last surviving tomato from the garden, onions, and topped with salsa canned last month. I loved when Dude says the goat cheese made the difference. The best tacos we have ever tasted.
So good we didn't even think to take a picture.

It always felt like the new year was a day or so after Christmas. Dude tried to escape by splitting wood outside.  I spent the day focusing on cleaning closets, sorting boxes of Christmas stuff, and tidying up the place. The weather was perfect for it - cold and frigid.  Looking back on journals, no matter what I was  focusing on at that time,  today was a cleaning day.  Interesting. So, like my biological rhythms in life , I was cleaning and sorting again today.  When you clear your space, you clear your mind. It was good to end the day with a clean home.

Tomorrow I begin to finish the 10,000 projects I have started or I will get rid of them too... like the stuffed cat I never finished because I only had one eye for it.  Grin.

Goodnight

4th Day of Christmas

The 4th Day of Christmas . I was able to take the day off work.  We made good every minute of the day.  Went out to meet some of the Prairie Sisters.  It is a small group of us that meet each week to can, talk about animals, dry foods, plan for the coming year, crochet , knit, sew and just share friendships.

Today we made queso blanca from goats milk. Sunny led the charge teaching us as we went. It was so much fun. I spiked mine with jalapenos.

Now we wait

Some carrots were getting ready to be dried.

The kids made a ton of pompoms

Spinning was done

Then home for chores. We still have a lot of snow.

Time for dinner - stir-fry, rice and egg drop soup. Then FOOTBALL night.

Before and afters

To afford our home we bought a foreclosure.  The house was a mess. Everything was falling down. When you walked in the house a smell hit you... we later found out from tearing down walls it from mice that lived and died in the walls.  We  are doing the work ourselves , us and our sons/son-in-laws who help us here and there.  For the first year we lived in one room in the back of the house while remodeling.  We are far from being done but we are making progress. Here are some of the "befores" and "afters" .
