A beautiful day to work in the garden and get outside.

It  was a gorgeous and wonderfully warm day.  It got up into the 70's.  After we ran to the grocery store we were able to go for a walk and along the way grab some leftover corn in the field next to us to save for the chickens.

Now that Dude is back to driving I was in the passenger seat trying to finish my fall shawl.  I love the way the sun casted shadows and made the yarn look variegated.

Dude cut the pampas grass.  We will bring it in the house later for decoration.

Later I planted a few more plants I had as clippings from here and there.  All were now rooting .

I even planted a few willows. (the ones that look like sticks ) They have rooted and begun to have small leaves at the base.

Dude is learning not to rototill as much. We are using the back yard for an experiment of no-till gardening.  We are dropping cutting and corn stock all over , then mulch , and straw.  We will then plant along the way. This is so hard of Dude who grew up farming the old way. We live on the dry prairie of Colorado.  Besides not getting much rain here, the winds blow across the land causing it to erode.  Our land is also damaged this year from hail storm after hail storm... starting over.

Next, I went and trimmed the willow with a "chop and drop" method.   I decide to take a few with me to make a couple wreaths.  Norman, the dog, helped by bringing in a few sticks himself... such a helper.

I use an old wire hanger to start the base.

Tomorrow I will decorate it.

Dude picked the last of the peppers from the garden.  I saved two of them for this week's dinners.

The rest of them I stuffed for tonight.

The timer is about to go off so I need to log off for the night. Time for dinner.

What we're are crafting on a Sunday Snow Day.

I was excited before heading to bed last night thinking it might be a snow day. I was so glad when I woke up and found it was!  Prudence (the small lamb) doesn't look as pleased as I was.

Norman loved it!

This meant it was a day of crafting for us.

My sister from another mother brought me this fabulous fabric!!
I have a wild idea for this fabric and began cutting it out. I hope it works.

Dude began to work on his train with the football game playing in the background.

I also wanted to see how easy these candies would be to make so melted the green candies in the microwave and used a butter knife to put into the mold.  Then off to the freezer to harden.

There was some leftover glasses from the party. One of my friends broke her glass when she got home.  I etched her a new one.

I wanted to make brownies and got the box out to make them. When I went to bake them someone swapped the box for an angel food cake mix.  Okay... have it your way... but my way... grin... you'll see what I mean in a minute.

I took a break while it baked. My grandson facetimed me.  He was having cocoa in the mug he made yesterday while I had tea.  We chatted for a good long while about crafts, his friend Davis and his game of match cards.

A friend left these amazing cookies yesterday. I wish I could remember the name of them.  You place them over your coffee or tea cup and in the thin middle layer is caramel that slowly melts.  oh be still my heart!

Time for the cake to disembark the tube pan!

My candies turned out wonderful and decorated the cake with them!

Bahahaha

The mousers were so tired of working all night out in the field and snow. The had a well-deserved rest in front of the fire.

Tonight is a new book.

Halloween Craft Party

We were all ready for the craft party.

Ravioli soup was prepared.

We were blessed with a beautiful day, the warm before the storm... 60* and no breeze.

We went to the greenhouse to check on everything.  Things are growing great since my sons recovered the greenhouse with new plastic, nice and tight.

Bees were taking advantage of the warm weather.

Family and friends arrived.

We crafted cards, etched wine and beer glasses.

I was so happy to see my grandson. He is a master crafter.

The guys were checking out the train progression and how to build log cabins.

We laughed a lot!

We made Cherry Bounce to take home.

It will be ready by Christmas!

Oh and created beautiful skulls.

By the time everyone went home the weather was beginning to move in.  It was great to have family and friends with us today.

It is great to have a place where we can grow food and enjoy having family and friends over.
