5th year homestead anniversary, greenhouse planting and other stuff.

We moved in 5 years ago today.  It was enough acerage and just a house (well, barely a house).  We lived over a year in one room while we began remodeling.  We have been sharing pictures this month of how far we have come. We still have a long way to go. We are doing it all ourselves and we always have to wait to earn and save as we go.
These were in the kitchen and they are on a once bedroom wall that is no longer there.

This is the wall now:

We don't know why but the bedrooms all had three closet doors.

Wow, this is the master bedroom when we moved in. Ouch, it hurts just looking at it.

We put in all new bedroom doors and front door.

This was the back porch.

Plus new windows were cut out and put in.

Later a greenhouse went up.

Today we started the day with a prayer walk with the animals. It is very meditative and calming to walk the land, plus we greatly believe in the power of prayer.

We in continued our day in the greenhouse. We had hoped to get more done than we did but our rototiller died and we had to do it all by hand.  No complaining, we were together and it was a good workout.  Our climate is so dry that even in the greenhouse the beds were hard as rock.  We turn and smashed today, turned the soil and smashed.

We bought dirt to mix in with it.

We did get radishes, a few different lettuces, spinach and onions planted.

I left as Dude finished the onions to make dinner - Swedish Meatballs, salad, and broccoli.

Sale on frozen veggies. Bought a bunch, froze some and  dehydrated some.

Today we cut down a tree and our neighbor came by to see if we wanted dead wood they will be cutting down soon.  YES!

Then made new cuttings from another tree.

Craft of the day was converting this drum into a new laundry bin. It was gray, so I painted it blue.

We are both sore and dishes need to get done.
peace
