Games, pork pick-up and warm weather

It was the last day for grandkids fall sports.  Family is always first... so off we went (despite the fact that I am very crabby in the morning -but once you see kids everything brightens up).  It was a gorgeous day and actually hot at 80*.  The air conditioner was to come out today but we actually kept it in and turned it on.  Fall weather will arrive mid week.

I remember these years with our own kids.  You start at one child's sport and then end at another child's sport. That's how today was. No matter what else you  thinking you could be doing, we never regret going to a grandchild's game.

Right after the games we traveled over to the meat locker. Remember we traded our milk goats for a pig? Well, it was ready for pick up. The pre-weight of the pig was 283 lbs, dressed weight was 190.

When we got home we realized we needed to clean out the freezer first. That was quite a chore. We took everything out. Threw away anything too old or that we knew we would never would really eat. Then we put in wire racks to separate the types of meats  - our pork from our chickens and ducks.  Next year we will add beef ...so we are saving for a new freezer.
I had also forgotten that someone at work had given me raspberries and strawberries , so tomorrow I will be canning jelly. Hopefully I will be canning salsa as well. I don't want my tomatoes to go bad.

Everyone and thing is enjoying the warm weather.

I heard someone say today that the farmers are expecting a record amount of corn this year due to the nice weather we have had. As we drove through Evans we saw the corn pouring in for the cattle.
Another crop ready to come in are onions.  We drove by where they were all ready to be gathered and taken to market.

Time for mass. Dude made dinner of baked chicken, potatoes and green beans.
We are so bless with a clear day and night.

The Hunter Moon is tonight. We are planning to walk with the animals. Can't wait.
Take care.
peace, health, and happiness.
