Tuesday update - a swarm is collect and the first trusses go up.

The day started with a hearty bowl of oatmeal and then off to deep clean the bedroom and bathroom. Beds were stripped and everything cleared out for a good clean and vacuum.

Dude got a call yesterday from up north someone had a swarm of bees for us to pick up. Good news since we decided not to spend more money on bees this year since we keep losing them due to CCD (colony collapse disorder).

I couldn't go help collect the bees so Dude headed up by himself.  He does things a little different than I do but it all worked.  We lost a hive recently but it was full of honey and royal jelly so Dude set that up for the new bees.

It was an accessible swarm in a low hanging branch.

Dude just used a box.  I would have used a bottom super with frames. Tuck it under the branch and tap the swarm in but this worked for Dude.

They seemed to be walking in. He figured he had the queen and went to lunch.  He came back and most were in and he took it for the hour trip home.

They are all hived up with a jar of sugar water on top.

He was busy the rest of the afternoon put up trusses on the backdoor addition. He calls it the pre-room to the mud room.  Smile.

Time  to crochet the shawl/poncho and head to bed .

                                                                            peace
