Prepping for weather and the weather did come

At the beginning of the week we heard the weather called for snow despite the fact that it was in the 70's and the middle of May . Dude worked quickly on Wednesday to finish the roof over the front porch.  He works alone and it is fun to watch how he does it.  You hear alot of grunting and whoofing and even some cussing but he got it done and beautifully.

Done! Read for the weather!  Next up order the metal for the roof and the finish the roof on one of the back rooms.

Thursday it began to rain.  We woke up  to no water in the house.  After getting the animals fed and settled, it was out to the well house to see what is going on.  It was the switch. It needed to be replaced.

The rain continued but due to our dry air and the hard ground the water just sat upon the top of the land.  What a mess!  Rain kept coming.  The destructive hail storm we had last week was still causing problems ... the skylight on the house began to leak and my windshield on the car was leaking.  The skylight  will be fixed with the new roof and the vehicle goes to be evaluated tomorrow. But for now things were leaking.

I stayed home (with no water there wasn't much of a choice - smile) and helped where I could and made the meals, cleaned many eggs, lettuce, and dishes.
BLT salad for dinner. Veggies from the greenhouse is great.

A home ground hen in the oven roasting away.

And then the snow came last night.

Flood and snow. Dude spent most of the day fixing the well and helping the animals stay dry.  We need to make sure Penny is comfortable. She will have her kids any day.

Dinner was ready!

Dessert ... a bowl full of cherries! Life is good.

Today it was back to work. The snow was there too but had stopped. It continue at home and turned to rain again.  By afternoon it stopped.

Dude had eat leftover hen and potatoes and I made a grilled cheese with leftover pico de gallo from Monday. Oh, it was mighty good

Added the first carrots from the garden. They have a long way to go but these baby carrots were tasty.

Time for warmth near the fire and a crochet hook.

peace
