A visit to the fleece factory

The skies are black and rumbling . Not a good night to work in the garden at all.  So instead...
I was able to go to the ribbon cutting for the Fleece Factory in LaSalle, Colorado today after work.  They generally work llama and alpaca fiber , washing it, spinning, and felting it...oh all kinds of things.   I am only learning about the fiber.  Besides spinning it to yarn, did you know alpaca fur does not have lanolin making it hypo allergenic?  OH and it's flame resistant!
Before we head to the factory here is a reminder of sheering day at my friend Sunny's homestead...

Now on to the factory.  First it is sheered...

                                                                     It is washed ...

Dried

Sorted , picked, combed ...

 Spun

Spooled and rolled.

Leftovers are felted.  This is before...

After...

Other stuff ...

Well, the storms are subsiding and tomorrow we may get out to the gardens.

                                                         peace, health and happiness
