Friday update - garden, home update, recipes and more.

I think we need to get the extra old fridge out of the container... our garden is taking over this one. Those bags all have something from the garden in them. Thank goodness we aren't milking our goat right now or we would be in big trouble.

Yesterday we made spinach omelets .

And a sweet pea pesto.  We picked and shucked peas from the garden ...about the same as a 12or14 oz box you buy a the store.  Popped them in the food process. I had about a tablespoon of onion and spinach leftover from the omelet making so I put them in. Plus two cloves of garlic, about a 1/4 of a cup of Parmesan cheese, 3 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper. Give it a good whirl until it is the consistency of hummus. It tastes like spring. I bought it to work and shared it in a meeting. It was gone quickly.

Blueberry muffins made.

We got a late start on today.  About once a month Dude and I just sleep in ...well, we don't sleep in ... we come back after chores and sleep for 2 hours.  Our bods just give in.
This will be rototilled today.  I used to have all roses and raspberries in here.

The back garden used to look like this.

Now ...

It's been five years in the making but we are slowly getting there.

We bought a bunch of cattle panels at a moving sale .  We finally have them up.

Felonious and Wilbur say hello.

Spring is here and chickens are free to roam.

Peppy is due any day. Our goats tend to stay close to the barn when they are about ready.  She isn't very big but she is happy.

Dude built a little nursery for her.

But someone else thinks it is theirs... oh Angelo!

The outside of the greenhouse is tilled.  The threat of frost, I hope, is gone.

Trees I started from cuttings are ready to plant.  Need to figure out where...

We were hoping to sell plants this year, but... well, let's just say "someone" forgot to put the full name of the plants on the markers.  Fall....perhaps.

We will have a produce cart in the fall.

Indoors the orchids are very happy.

Kittens are zonked.

Dude rototilled the back.

Time for dinner on the front porch...our first time.
peace

Homestead update... greenhouse, veggies, goats, and mud

Tuesday started out in the greenhouse.  Picking beets.

Then shucking peas.

And carding wool.  Yes, I had help *wink*

And then backed a quilt.

Then it was off to work and on to Wednesday.  Lists were made. Some of it was completed, some not. Dishes got in the way and stalled me... I forgot to put it on the list.  *smile*

Litter boxes were done first thing... do what you dislike first.

Sand was delivered to try and help fix the mud problem we had with the animals stalls and barn.

Our mouser cats were working too.

Then off to the greenhouse. This week we started hardening off plants, bringing them outside to get used to the weather. Hopefully after this week we will leave them outside.

Dude kept working on the animal areas.

Angelo came over for kisses.

I checked on Peppy.  She wanted a goat massage and then ignored me.

I went to cut lettuce ... again. I will cut lettuce and spinach every 2-3 days until it gives up.

Then time to make dinner.  Our leftover chicken will give us two more meals, today's and tomorrow's.

I made spicy strawberry jam chicken to go on buns for dinner with a garden (literally) salad and cherries for dessert.

Dude gave it two thumbs up. I put it in the fridge and got ready for work.

I did get a walk in at work.  I didn't get the quilt ties like I wanted but I can do that tomorrow.

Dude will the trusses up on the last back "porch" tomorrow.  He is hoping to get them all up and Friday finish the roof .  Next week the tin roof.  He brought roof samples home today.

peace.
