Our weekend, planting , sewing, family and more

Saturday I spent  with the dog trying to get him to get used to people and being patient. It didn't always go well but he is getting there. I took him to town with me.  I popped in the Credit Union and made sure it was nice and cool for him while I was making my deposit. All car windows were half-way down.  I made my was to the line and heard him begin to howl.  I took a deep breath and pretended it wasn't my dog. Ugh

I cleaned out my bedroom closets and low and behold there really IS a floor in there!

I planted a few rows of flower seed. I hope they come up, our ground is hard, dry and clay but each year we work on it.

A nap was squeezed in.  There are days where my body just gives up after very full week. I really needed it.

Dude spent the afternoon as an episode of Caddy Shack.  He was after the prairie dogs that have invaded our land. I think the prairie dogs won this round.

Sunday
Began the morning putting split pea soup in the crockpot for this week's lunches.

After chores and breakfast I call all my children and check in with them.  I was able to talk to all of them today!

We worked with Norman and his training.

And went for walks.

Alfalfa fields will probably be cut this week.

We were surprised to see corn growing in the field next to us.

We found a fresh fox hole.

Came back and sewed while Dude ran to town.

I did get my little wall hanging just about finished.

Then party time with the family.

Then home for evening chores and a beautiful sunset.

Soup is ready for me to jar up and then to bed.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe craft and dry weather!

Today is the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
 From CNA
"In 1531 on the Hill of Tepeyac in Mexico City, Our Lady appeared to Saint Juan Diego as an indigenous woman speaking in the native language Nahuatl. She asked Juan Diego to appeal to the bishop to build a church on the site of the apparition, as a place where the compassion of Christ could be proclaimed.

After the bishop demanded a sign, Mary requested that Juan Diego gather the roses growing on the hillside, despite it being winter. Collecting the roses in his cloak, Juan Diego presented them to the bishop only to have the image of Our Lady be miraculously imprinted upon his tilma."
I have been saving this material for a few years now wanting to make something special out of it. Last night I was cleaning my closet and found an old jeans jacket. I knew right away what I wanted to do!

I ironed it and backed it fusible webbing and cut it out.

My jacket... nothing special.

Then Dude called out to go for our morning walk.  It is so dry out here on the plains. You can see the mountains in a distance. They are getting some snow but it is definitely not normal for us to continue to no snow and temperatures in the 50's and 60's!

Norman is loving this weather.

And our walks... even though he loves to get on the treadmill every morning, too.

Someone is disappointed that she missed the walk.

Dude was working on the bird house today and wants to get the roof finished by the weekend.

I went back to work on my jacket. I was determined to get it finished before going to work. I had cut out the fabric before the walk. I turned on the timer for 20minutes. I ironed on the fabric and began saying a rosary for my family while sewing. I used metallic thread sewing all along the edges. A miracle happened. I got finished before the timer sounded!

I was able to wear it to work.

Peace!

Our morning feed.

Our mornings are routine.  Animals have to have a habit or all this get discombobulated. That's  when you have animals that seem to get out of control but they just have needs.
Chickens are first. Water checked, feed checked and then scratch thrown out for them. They are doing well and are healthy.

My friend the hawk came by to say hello.  Last year he let me get right up to him while he was waiting on a fence post.

Goats are fed grass hay. Peppy is given grains and vitamins since she is pregnant.  Later, Peppy asked if we could go for a walk. She was so happy she started to do flips like a young kid.

But once we got out and away from the barn, she notice Angelo was not with us and she ran back to him.

Angelo has been doing some serious scratching with his horns.  So we cleaned them and gave him a good back scratch. He was in heaven. Looks like a manicure is in order for him this weekend.

This is why I love this guy...we laugh every day! (Angelo was trying to give Dude a good headbutt but is too fat to get anywhere)

Felonious is going great.  When we got him his fur was a mess and we started treating him for worms and now he is looking better. He loves attention and is a sweetheart. Felonious is a Nubian/Nigerian goat.

His roommate Wilbur says good morning.

Well, lots to do before heading to work.
Take care of each other.
