We're back.... Gardens begin, mask making and plenty of crafting

I haven't been able to blog lately probably due to so many people online these days. I have been posting on Facebook and Instagram. We are getting through the StayHome issue by staying busy.  I don't leave home much except to see or help family.  Dude is our designated shopper - smile.  We exercise daily, get out in the sun, even though it has been chilly, and still manage the animals.

We are lucky that spring is beginning and gardens need done.

The greenhouse is getting started.  We still have cold nights. We harden off many of the plants by bringing them out during the day and returning them to the greenhouse at night.

More masks are done . I have probably  done 100 so far.

Then since we made so many masks my girlfriends and sisters decided to make upscaled masks for each other to end the mask-making for a while.

Besides cleaning there has been a lot of crafting.  Here are some of them:

Let's make a journal quilt - first step cutting fabric .

We are staying positive here during social distancing.  Here we keep busy with prayer, chores, exercise, reading and of course, crafts/sewing.  

I love to journal and read books about old diaries. Back in 2008 to  2011 I found out my sister had a terminal disease. We were only a year apart in age and I needed something to keep the positive going in my life.     She was fun, funny and the life of the party.   My written journal already had all the sorrow.  So, I decide to begin a journal quilt but had to record quick positive hits of my day.  It has been fun to read it all these years later. 

Now that we are practicing social distancing I thought I would start a new one of our time during covid -19.   Hopefully, we will look back on this time and think WOW, this really did happen.

Here it is. 

Here it is on a Queen size bed. Like a lot quilts it didn't get finished due to life going so fast. 

Here are some of the things I wrote.

It is a combination of blocks 4.5 inches.  I cut four sizes. 

4.5 x 3.5

4.5 x 4.5

4.5 x 5.5

4.5 x 6.5

I put them in separate bags as I cut up fabric that wasn't to busy and could be seen if written on. 

Since I, too am starting again, I need to get blocks cut. 

Let's start there. I will show more blocks later.  Tomorrow I will have the sewing instructions and then you can just sew and journal along.

Sewing day and more .

Today was a day for creating. Every month a bunch of get together to create and have a sort of sewing bee.  We create whatever we want. We inspire each other, we support each other, we talk, we laugh and we eat!

It was a gorgeous day after the snows we had this week. I was glad to get out since snow is due again tonight. 

It was gorgeous.

Judy was hosting this month and the drive was an hour away... well, it ended up being farther since GPS took me the long way down some old roads and some dirt roads but I got there. 

And when I did arrive a wonderful chicken and rice soup was waiting for me... us. 

It was topped with a mixture of cranberries and sage. Oh ...my... it was delightful!  Mary brought Iowa pea salad or seven layer salad (I can't wait to make that one at home), Daisy brought shrimp and chili sauce and my mom brought the dessert of chocolates!

Judy's home is decorated with all types of beautiful creations.  This is the fun part about being a creative spirit. 

After a wonderful lunch (I brought German sausage with strawberry jalapeno jelly) we got to work. 

Mom was making embroidered baby clothes. 

Wow! Mary was almost finished with her no problama llamas and needed to bead them .

Daisy was hand appliqueing a quilt block.

I transferred my next animal art quilt to a template and now needed to get the drawing on fabric. 

Judy worked on an adorable embroidered quilt block to donate. 

It was a very fun afternoon.

It was beautiful when I finally did head home. It is always great to see why people love Colorado... we love our snow, especially on a Saturday. 

Long's Peak was getting the snow that was predicted to come our way.  I loved that it was warm and in the high 40's F.  Our dry weather makes it feel warm. 

Dude worked with his horse all day and loved it. 

The lambs said hello before I headed in the house. 

Time to get settled in for the night.
