Dude made this handy thing to fit right in the bed of this truck. We haul goats, chickens and turkeys in this wonderful contraption.
Since we raised the turkeys kind of as pets we had no problem catching and loading them up. They had the attitude, "it's cool man, just tell us where you want us."
I was on top of the truck bed waiting to put the birds in.
The roosters were another story. We use chicken catchers with them. The long metal sticks with hooks on the end of them.
They were smart and knew what was going on. One of them even hid in the hen house pretending to lay an egg in a nesting box as he hid under a hen! We were wise to their dealings.
The turkeys scolded them good for holding up the show. We all settled in and hit the road.
We drove an hour and a half through beautiful country...
...only to find they were not butchering today, it was the town's annual celebration. They were sorry their grandmother from Holland set our appointment up. OIY!
We hopped back in the truck to head back home, too upset to stop and see family in the area. The A/C was going out in the truck, Dude was grumpy and the turkeys were very thirsty in the heat.
We took our frustrations out by gnawing on beefy jerky Dude had made and stashed in the truck. Of course, I brought crocheting. Crocheting in frustration usually produces fast stitches (smile).
The animals are very happy to have a reprieve but exhausted from the travelling.
Hope you all have a lovely evening.
peace, health and happiness
