Snow, recipes, flooring and more... did I say I love weekends?

The day started as it ended the night before with a cold freezing snow-like fog. It actually has a name for this beautiful phenomenon... hoar fog or radiation frost where white crystals form on everything (including the cows) from water vapor, in our case fog.  It was gorgeous and eerie all at the same time.

The fog finally burned off but the temperature only got to about 25*.

Last night the floor was finished in the living room. I moved books and bookcases while Dude worked on the floor. Like fabric and yarn , I have an obsession with books. Four bookcases and their books had to be moved. The floor is amazing. It is cork - called Eco Forest and environmentally friendly. Easy, inexpensive and wonderful to walk on. It just snaps in place after laying a vapor barrier (Styrofoam underlayment) to help prevent moisture from seeping up and then sealed with an oil-based polyurethane for floors to seal the seams.  Yes, all while football was playing in the background.

I did have time to sew and finish the top of the schnauzer quilt.

Today we went for a walk. It was nice. The snow was hard and looked like powdered sugar. We have about a foot of snow and grateful for the moisture it will provide for the ground.

Today's focus was on chicken.  Boiling some up for the broth and canning the meat. The other was a meat hen for dinner.  We cook ours on a Bundt pan. It is the same idea as the beer can method.  Clean the hen. Put it on a Bundt pan, massage with oil, and cover in spices or simply salt and pepper.  Put in a 350* oven for about an hour and a half.  Make sure you use a meat thermometer to check it has reached 180*.  Pretty darn good.

I did manage to stop at the library and pick up a couple books. Looking forward to reading them but first a round on the treadmill and some yoga before dinner... okay, it's a very small round on the treadmill - 20minutes and stretching afterwards.  *wink*

Dinner of roasted chicken, salad from the greenhouse and twice baked potatoes.... sorry I had to taste the chicken ..hence the missing wing.  OHMY it is good.

Time with the goats and greenhouse update

I snuck out to spend a little bit of time with the goats.  Football was on the tube so I figured I wouldn't even be missed.

Now is that a happy got or what?!

Salad for dinner!

Christmas tree is getting a temporary home in the greenhouse.

Ohpoop, the jig is up. I have been caught in the computer room. Back to work. :-)

Flooring is going in

When you find a deal you have to jump on it or so Dude says.

After hearing our six your old grandson say we need to get flooring put in because he might get splinters from the subfloor and the dog is sad because she is probably getting splinters too, Dude headed off to the Big Box Store of Home Improvements. The store clerk had just put out cork flooring and was marking it ridiculously down from $3.79 to  $.76 get the product out  the door. He bought almost everything they had and headed home. He was so hyped he began to lay flooring as soon as he got home from work. Furniture was moved and work was begun.  More to come today.
