The day started as it ended the night before with a cold freezing snow-like fog. It actually has a name for this beautiful phenomenon... hoar fog or radiation frost where white crystals form on everything (including the cows) from water vapor, in our case fog. It was gorgeous and eerie all at the same time.
The fog finally burned off but the temperature only got to about 25*.
Last night the floor was finished in the living room. I moved books and bookcases while Dude worked on the floor. Like fabric and yarn , I have an obsession with books. Four bookcases and their books had to be moved. The floor is amazing. It is cork - called Eco Forest and environmentally friendly. Easy, inexpensive and wonderful to walk on. It just snaps in place after laying a vapor barrier (Styrofoam underlayment) to help prevent moisture from seeping up and then sealed with an oil-based polyurethane for floors to seal the seams. Yes, all while football was playing in the background.
I did have time to sew and finish the top of the schnauzer quilt.
Today we went for a walk. It was nice. The snow was hard and looked like powdered sugar. We have about a foot of snow and grateful for the moisture it will provide for the ground.
Today's focus was on chicken. Boiling some up for the broth and canning the meat. The other was a meat hen for dinner. We cook ours on a Bundt pan. It is the same idea as the beer can method. Clean the hen. Put it on a Bundt pan, massage with oil, and cover in spices or simply salt and pepper. Put in a 350* oven for about an hour and a half. Make sure you use a meat thermometer to check it has reached 180*. Pretty darn good.
I did manage to stop at the library and pick up a couple books. Looking forward to reading them but first a round on the treadmill and some yoga before dinner... okay, it's a very small round on the treadmill - 20minutes and stretching afterwards. *wink*
Dinner of roasted chicken, salad from the greenhouse and twice baked potatoes.... sorry I had to taste the chicken ..hence the missing wing. OHMY it is good.
