Sewing and Craft Day

The day began with my 5 year old grandson calling at 7am to tell me about a Halloween craft he made. That inspired me to get going on the holiday myself!

We all went to breakfast (my sister and her husband are visiting) in a town about twenty minutes away. After coming home, the men went there way... to buy hay, chicken feed and whatever other animal feed we need and the ladies had a sewing and craft day.

I had some old ratty blankets that I was going to throw away and then decide to make a new pillow for the dog. I had some lavender upholstery fabric to use for the outside of the pillow that I had gotten at a farm auction.

My sister, in the meantime, was busy making placemats. We did giggle because we didn't know her choice of backing would ….melt !

We got a good laugh over that one!

A quick break to the store to get a new iron and we were back in business.

The dog approved of his new pillow.

I made some pumpkin muddy buddies.

And made a witch wall hanging.

My sister made more of her placemats.

Then I got a wild hair to make something to go with the witch. I fired up the Cricut machine and got to cutting out paper and vinyl.

My sister got her four placemats finished... gorgeous!

I got my sign finished.

And our snack jarred up.

A productive and creative day.

Tuesday - day two bottling laundry detergent, and dog pillows ready for delivery.

I got up and started right in making my meals for this week's dinners at work, ravioli soup.  I got the recipe here.  It is low calorie and very tasty.

Jarred it all up and ready to go.

Next I needed to get the laundry detergent I made yesterday bottled up for use. This is how it looked when I opened the lid.

It was like jelly. Stir up good.

I got my recycled bottles out and filled them half way with water and the rest of the way with detergent. Yes, all my stuff for work is out and ready to go.

All snug and ready to use.

This is how the chicken saloon looked when I left this morning. Trusses were up.  It's dark when I got home but I could see there was more work done today.  It has been very hot and windy, so there isn't a whole day Dude can work on it. It will get done by the end of the week.

Dog pillows were finished. This one is for a great dane. I hope he loves it. (the cats at the door are wondering where theirs are)

These two are for new family members of a friend who have puppies.
Everything is packed up and ready for delivery before work.

That's it, well, besides the regular chores. Hope you all sleep well.

July 4th - a calm relaxing day

Happy Independence Day.  I worked both yesterday and today.
It's late so I will just post some pictures from the days.

Made eagles for the potluck .

The boxes in the fridge are a big success for Dude.
This week I premade ham sandwiches.

                                                  Carrots and fruit bagged up.

                            Picked collards

And put them in the crockpot.

Along with a ham hock, some of our dried onions, a couple tablespoons of vinegar, pepper flakes and a bit of honey...oh and some chicken stock.  Good stuff.

We walked the property. They say you can tell how snowy the upcoming winter will be by how high the ant mounds are... looks like it will be light.

I took some of the fabric I bought from a farm sale we recently went to and began to make dog beds!

I have four of them cut and pinned.

Yep, I had company. Luna wanted to watch.

Dude worked on the Chicken Saloon most of the day.  I came home in the dark but I hear the floor is on.

That's it for today.  Not much just happy and warm.
