First up were chores and a walk around the property. It is half mile around or so , we went a few times around and check the fence.
Who could resist saying good morning to these adorable chubby faces?
The pampas grass apparently doesn't know there is a draught.
We found the headless chicken on our walk. Yesterday, I found the head in my herb garden. See the orange band on it's leg... yep, it's one of mine.
Before surgery Dude added dirt along the side of the house. It had eroded away. Look at what the hail has done to the side of the house! Later we will give it a coat of stain.
Rain would be nice but not a cloud in the sky.
Hmmm some critter is trying to get on to the property.
Something did make it! A fox, a rabbit?
Found where the guineas are hiding their eggs.
Speak of the devils... they were following us and then pretend not to.
My treasures from the walk
Cattle were brought in today to graze in the corn fields. (not sure if you can see them by the trees) My, my they rather chatty.
Dude planted the mums. They are gorgeous.
Harvest time always reminds me of Grace Before Meals -
Bless us,
O Lord,
and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
O Lord,
and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
In January I want to make a weather quilt. I began cutting the square and will label them, save for later. Purple is for days below 22* F.
Next were the crafts I was going to do with my grandson today... What's kraken?
I was glad I did not make them with him... these cards were a wee bit difficult but I like the way they turned out.
I am a glitter person... the glitter paper did NOT work! err. Off to the burn pile!
I found paper from last year's Christmas cards - yay! They worked.
The front, made from the leftover parts from inside the card that were meant to be thrown away.
Inside my kraken pop-up card.
Next was a big bug book to make an octopus they way we did as kids...
Awesome book!
Wrap with yarn.
Tie tightly at the top.
Cut at the bottom of the book only.
I had a leftover Styrofoam ball from last week's craft. Put it in the top for the head.
Wrap the yarn around it and tie to make the head.
Divide in half and then by fours on each side to make the legs.
Braid the legs and tie or rubber band them off.
Add button eyes with glue.
What am I reading for fall? Finished this one today. Fun from when I was a kid. It is the first Nancy Drew book - The Secret of the Old Clock
Can't wait to start this quick read tonight. I love Ray Bradbury! Tonight it is The Halloween Tree.
Dude is crafting his train behind me while I start to read tonight.
peace
