Wednesday update... final stages of remodel , books, what's going on in the greenhouse and a quick recipe

Woke up to snow and fog this morning.

Since it was frigid cold outside we made it cozy inside with Greek Tacos.

Kalamata olives
Sundried tomatoes in oil
Artichokes

Are all sautéed together.

Heated corn tortillas lined with smoked gouda cheese.  (don't tell Dude but this was vegan)
Scramble a layer of eggs, kind of like you would an omelets and then build your taco from there.

Corn tortilla
Cheese
Egg
Filling
Eat

Dude was busy in the greenhouse yesterday.  February is onion seed planting. That was completed the beginning of the week. It is too expensive to use heaters in the greenhouse.  Hearing the weather was going to plummet , he went in, put a warm blanket of straw and tucked the new onion seeds in for the night.

Garlic is tucked in … babies are all snug.

We are at the final stages of remodeling the house.

We went from ...

To

to....

Now all that is left is the final paint and carpet.  We began boxing up books so we can move out the furniture to do the floors.  We have lots....and lots...and lots of books. This didn't put a dent in our books.

Some of my favorites..

To be read and finished reading... Just Mercy is a book club book and Akata Warrior I just got in the mail today!

One of the cats stayed warm behind the wood stove most of the day.

It was recoup day and what better way than with a snow day.
Closest I got do doing a craft...
A while back I took a reverse bobbin class and made this.... into a frame it went today.

Ram shearing, Dude's boredom = new kitchen lighting, and meatless Friday

Our ram Wilbur was sheered yesterday.

His fleece is a bit dirty but nice and long.  It is a Romeldale wool.

Last night we had a sudden and rather powerful storm that had me stuck in traffic, only to get to my son's home after 4 hours of trying to get home.  When there is snow on the ground and I don't get home Dude gets antsy.  He decided to begin work on the ceiling and new lighting in the kitchen.

Here is the before.

Here is where it was when I finally got home today.  I wasn't feeling well and went straight to bed. I must have needed it because I didn't hear a thing. Almost four hours later he got quite a bit done.

As you can see we really need the lighting.

Dinner for a Friday during Lent was veggie fajitas.

Cheese, onions, peppers and a bean mixture of Navy beans, lime juice, chopped onion and tomato, salt and pepper plus a chopped up chipotle pepper.

Grilled the onion and pepper.  Remove from the stove.

Add a tortilla with the grilled onions and pepper, cheese and the bean mixture. Grill in butter.

Fold over heat on one side and flip.

Served with our canned summer salsa.

Finished my first cross stitch in probably 15 years.  Can you see my big mistake? Dude could - smile.

There is snow all around and we have a fire lit to keep us warm. Movie night from the library.  It's a homesteading movie of sorts, Far and Away.

Then to bed early.

Tuesday, cantaloupe and crafts

Dude is still in pain but not totally out of commission.  I did manage to to feed the animals, walk the dog and cats, spent time with the geese and had poo duty outside before heading in the house to finish in there then off to work.

I did pick an amazing cantaloupe. It was so sweet and juicy.

Next up, I had to get the salsa made. I picked the tomatoes the day before and I wanted them to be firm for the salsa.

Most of the ingredients were from the garden.

Looks good.

Then on to make a craft. We have a craft party at the end of September and this is one of them.

I got some terracotta pots a while back to replant my ever growing aloe vera.

I washed some pots and their saucers.

Then I painted them and glued them together. Next time I will use a brighter color. A glue gun doesn't work for this craft and I had to use gorilla glue.

Just need to fill with seeds for the birds.

I made these placemats last year.

Just before I left I realized I needed a card for someone at work. This one was quick and easy.

I found this fan case in the trash at work. Some how I want to make them into eyeballs for the party.

Dude would not stay down. He only had a tiny bit left to put on the roof. He was pumped since the inspector had been out and he passed all his inspections.

The only thing left is the chimney. He is putting large rock around it and put the gutters on.

It has been a stressful few weeks but we will get through this like we do everything. We find out more this week what is going on with Dude's pain.  We persevere.  We reinvent and work hard to make it happen. We dreamed to long for this not too.
