Snow, what's growing, what am I reading and International Dog Biscuit Day.

We finally got some snow.  We sure do need it. All we have had out here is dust and dirt.

Our honey crisp apple trees have begun to bud out.  Typically February and March are our snowiest months.

In the green house the garlic continues to grow and the radishes have popped their little heads above ground.

It is hard to tell from the pictures but despite the cold outside the beds are warm and snug and sprouting away.

Today is International Dog Biscuit Day.  I mixed 2 cups oats, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup chicken stock and a wee bit of flour -2 tablespoons to make Norm some biscuits.

Pup waited patiently until they cooled enough to enjoy.

Here are the books I have read or listened to this week.  All very good.

My mom went into a senior living apartment recently. She is doing well but the journey, at times, has been a bit bumpy.

February garden, a carrot soup recipe, what I am reading and crocheting

February is time to plant seeds... some of them. Think salad garden. Despite being sunny outside it was also a cold 22* but in the greenhouse it was comfortable without a coat.

We gave it all a good water today.

A good way to get greens in the winter is also by sprouting seeds.

We used our carrots from the greenhouse to make soup.

Dude even liked it but thought it was a bit spicy.

I found the recipe here in the book Diet for a New World by Jon Robbins.

We are learning to put up our cell phones and meditate each morning (shock, it was Dude's idea).

We are reading more. I listen to a lot of books on CD. Reading takes me longer than most people but we are taking time each day to read, especially during these colder months.

I finished these two today.

Quick look of what is on my hook today.  A new scarf. I found this yarn at the Dollar Store. It is called Metallic, color Blue Steal and made of Nylon, Acrylic, and Wool making it very soft.

Relaxing for the weekend... a bit of crafting

Lucky day of bird watching.

Around 430pm the geese came in for a landing.

The guineas felt the ground was just too cold today.

After sewing with friends and going to work for a bit we were lucky to get to hang out with one of our grandsons.

We played Jenga.

An uncle came to read a bedtime story... Adventures of Frog and Toad.

And make candy skeletons.

We played Pop the Pig and Candy Land.

Another uncle came over to read with the kiddo too.

We adore the children in our life and hopes are high for the future.

Sunday was a day of relaxing. There was a lot of running around during the week. We HAD to slow down.

So we crafted...my sister and I .

Take old boxes and tins...

Outside we went and spray painted them.

We looked for bits and bobs to decorate them with.

We will fill them with nuts or teas... Anything good for you for Valentines.

Now it is time to relax , read and embroider.

Wednesday update... final stages of remodel , books, what's going on in the greenhouse and a quick recipe

Woke up to snow and fog this morning.

Since it was frigid cold outside we made it cozy inside with Greek Tacos.

Kalamata olives
Sundried tomatoes in oil
Artichokes

Are all sautéed together.

Heated corn tortillas lined with smoked gouda cheese.  (don't tell Dude but this was vegan)
Scramble a layer of eggs, kind of like you would an omelets and then build your taco from there.

Corn tortilla
Cheese
Egg
Filling
Eat

Dude was busy in the greenhouse yesterday.  February is onion seed planting. That was completed the beginning of the week. It is too expensive to use heaters in the greenhouse.  Hearing the weather was going to plummet , he went in, put a warm blanket of straw and tucked the new onion seeds in for the night.

Garlic is tucked in … babies are all snug.

We are at the final stages of remodeling the house.

We went from ...

To

to....

Now all that is left is the final paint and carpet.  We began boxing up books so we can move out the furniture to do the floors.  We have lots....and lots...and lots of books. This didn't put a dent in our books.

Some of my favorites..

To be read and finished reading... Just Mercy is a book club book and Akata Warrior I just got in the mail today!

One of the cats stayed warm behind the wood stove most of the day.

It was recoup day and what better way than with a snow day.
Closest I got do doing a craft...
A while back I took a reverse bobbin class and made this.... into a frame it went today.
