Earth Day recylcing and more

It was a great weekend of family and more.  We were able to see most of our kids.  They are an awesome and fun bunch.

I didn't get as much done as I would have liked but I did get enough done.  It will just leave a couple for tomorrow.  Today is Earth Day and people who know me know I love to recycle.

I had an instant coffee jar, a magazine,  a friend gave me a vodka bottle and said "do something with it", and a pair of jeans.

Here is where I began...

Leftover instant coffee jar and the magazine.

My dad taught me this one. When we were kids he gave us each a clear drinking glass and told us to cut something out of the Sunday comics.  We decoupage them to our glass and from then on it was our glass. Today, I cut a picture from a magazine and decoupage on the glass and filled the jar with  leftover dried beans.

Next was the vodka bottle.  I took it outside and put it upside down on a stick.  Then spray painted it silver.  I decoupage a heart doily, added some trim and hot clued some leftover jewelry.

I like the way it turned out.

Dandelion Jelly - yep, I finally got to the dandelion tea I made the other day and made it into jelly.   Remember these?

While the jelly cooled I went out to read and be with Molly for a bit and go for a walk with Dude.

Then a quick shake for lunch.

Quick protein shake for lunch - peanut butter and jelly

2 Tablespoons dried peanut butter protein
2 Tablespoons strawberry jam
2 heaping tablespoons plain yogurt
1 cup ice
1 cup almond milk

Blend everything in a blend.  Ohso good.

Dinner for today (pulled pork was put in the crockpot) and for tomorrow (beans).

That's about all I could get into one day after a grandson's football game.  I am exhausted but can't wait to read.

Tomorrow will be ....

Recycling Jeans - egg apron... I started them. Plus more.

Starting Christmas early - recycling a dictionary.

Making wool drier balls for Christmas.

Don't forget your prayers.

Molly our new lamb, Norman our labrador retriever and a little crocheting

Molly, our new Suffolk ewe lamb, came home today.  She was loaded onto the trailer and was sad to leave her family behind.  She said goodbye to her mom, aunties and all the farm animals she knew.

We will use her to breed for new lambs for meat.

But once she got here she began to check things out.

We will keep her in a small area with the horses for a while until she gets used to the area. Later she will be allowed to graze with the horses.

She still cries now and then but she is beginning to get used to things. Prudence, our Babydoll lamb, will arrive next month on Mother's Day weekend.

Norman went to his dog training tonight.  Each time he does a little better but we need to get him around people and other animals more. He gets so excited when we take him out he get a little uncontrollable. On the homestead we need a dog that is under control and responds to commands.

But he is learning.

He did make everyone laugh when he went to run through the tunnel.  He went in and laid down in the middle and didn't want to come out.

When he came home from class he went out to be with Molly. They love each other. He even went in the house and got one of his dolls to share with her.

He presented it to her and stepped back. She was unsure what to do.  It is a beginning.

I did get a new potholder crocheted. Someone had given me a bunch of Sugar and Cream yarn, which is all cotton . They are great for potholders (acrylic would melt) and dish cloths.   I hope to make a few more for Christmas presents. This one is pretty big and very easy to follow here .

Dandelions part one

I spent the morning picking dandelions. The winds are roaring today.  I couldn't use a basket to pick the flowers  since they would just blow out, so I found a half gallon jar.  Between the winds and the dog running by trying to barrel me over, I felt the Universe was teaching me balance.  I have said before that the homestead can be your gym .... with  the bending over and picking for a good hour it sure gave my tummy and the back of my legs a workout. My legs were shaking all morning.

I think dandelions are beautiful. Soft, pillows, and full of spring.  They represent the summer to come...full of sunshine.

I had a few helpers...sigh,  but I welcomed them still.

I poured boiling water over them. Today they will soak in as a tea all day and tomorrow I will make jelly plus more!

Sooo, until tomorrow I pray you have a peaceful and loving day.
